How much bacteriostatic water do I add to my peptide vial?

Most people add 2 ml to a 5 mg vial. That gives you 2.5 mg per ml, which means 250 mcg every time you draw 10 units on an insulin syringe. Nice round numbers, easy math. For a 10 mg vial, 2 ml gives you 5 mg per ml. More water = easier to measure small doses but more liquid per shot. Less water = more concentrated but harder to measure precisely. How do I convert syringe units to mcg?

Here's the only math you need: 100 units on an insulin syringe = 1 ml. So if you know your concentration, you can figure out any dose. Example: 5 mg peptide + 2 ml BAC water = 2.5 mg/ml. You draw 10 units (0.1 ml). That's 0.1 × 2.5 mg = 0.25 mg = 250 mcg. The formula is: (units drawn ÷ 100) × concentration in mg/ml × 1000 = mcg. What is the difference between sterile water and bacteriostatic water?

BAC water has a preservative in it (0.9% benzyl alcohol) that stops bacteria from growing. Sterile water doesn't. If you're using a vial more than once (you are), you need BAC water. Sterile water in a multi-dose vial is basically an invitation for contamination within 48 hours. BAC water keeps your reconstituted peptide safe for about 28 days in the fridge. Sterile water is only for single-use situations where you're using the entire vial in one go.

Do I squirt the water directly onto the powder?

No. Don't blast the powder — aim the water against the glass wall and let it trickle down. Direct force can damage the peptide's structure and kill potency. Once the water's in, don't shake it. Gently swirl or just put it in the fridge for 10-15 minutes and let the powder dissolve on its own. It will. If it hasn't dissolved after 30 minutes of gentle swirling, something's wrong with the peptide.

Is there a peptide dosing calculator?

Yes. Plug in your vial size (mg), how much BAC water you added (ml), and your target dose (mcg). It tells you exactly how many units to draw on your syringe. Works in reverse too — enter the units you drew and it'll tell you the mcg. Bookmark it. You'll use it every single time.

How long does a reconstituted peptide last?

28 days in the fridge with BAC water. Some people push it to 60 but 28 is the safe number. With sterile water (no preservative), use it within 24-48 hours or toss it. After 28 days with BAC water, the peptide might still have some effect but potency drops and bacterial risk goes up. If you can't finish a vial in 28 days, reconstitute with less water next time so you get fewer, more concentrated doses.

Can I freeze a reconstituted peptide?

Don't. Ice crystals form and shred the peptide's structure. The freeze-thaw cycle is basically a peptide blender. Unreconstituted powder (the dry stuff before you add water) can absolutely go in the freezer — that extends shelf life to 12-24 months. But once you've added water, keep it in the fridge, not the freezer. Use within 28 days.

How do I know if my peptide has gone bad?

If it's cloudy, has floaters, changed color, or smells off — don't use it. It should be clear. If it was clear when you mixed it and now it's not, that vial is done. The sneaky sign: you've been getting consistent results and they suddenly stop. Degraded peptide is usually the reason. Also watch for powder that arrives as a wet cake or sticky residue instead of a clean dry puck — that means it got warm during shipping and you're already starting at a disadvantage.

What destroys peptide stability?

Four things will ruin your peptide: heat (anything above fridge temp accelerates degradation), light (UV breaks peptide bonds — keep vials in the box or wrap them in foil), shaking (denatures the protein — always swirl gently), and contamination (dirty needles or touching the rubber stopper with your fingers). Also: repeated freeze-thaw cycles for the powder, and leaving reconstituted vials sitting on your bathroom counter. The fridge is your peptide's entire personality. Keep it there.

How do I keep peptides cold while traveling?

Get a small insulated medical cooler with gel packs. A FRIO wallet is popular — it uses evaporative cooling and doesn't need ice. For flights, always carry-on (checked luggage can freeze in the cargo hold). Keep the vial upright so the solution doesn't sit against the rubber stopper for hours. For anything under 24 hours, an insulated lunch bag with a frozen gel pack works fine. Don't overthink it.

Does a subcutaneous peptide injection hurt?

Barely. You'll feel a tiny pinch for about one second. That's it. SubQ needles are 29-31 gauge — thinner than a strand of hair. Most people's reaction after the first one is "wait, that was it?" The belly (around the navel) is the least sensitive spot for most people. Two things that actually make it hurt more: injecting cold solution straight from the fridge (warm the syringe in your hand for 30 seconds first) and hovering with the needle on your skin instead of just committing to the motion.

What is the difference between SubQ and IM injections?

SubQ (subcutaneous) goes into the fat layer just under your skin. Pinch the skin, short needle, 45-90 degree angle. IM (intramuscular) goes into muscle — longer needle, no pinch, straight in at 90 degrees. Almost all peptides are SubQ. IM is for specific stuff like testosterone or certain GH protocols. Unless your protocol specifically says IM, assume SubQ. It's easier, less painful, and what you'll be doing 99% of the time.
